Testing cleaning products is one of our favourite things to do at Just Helpers. We’ve been at it since 2012, so we have a lot to say about this! Below is our recommended cleaning products list. Do check back, as we regularly update this. We particularly love that over the years, the eco-friendly product range has surpassed the cleaning ability of the majority of more toxic products out there.
You’ll see that we’ve divided this into domestic and commercial and normal and deeper cleans. If in doubt, just give us a call or drop us an email and one of our team would LOVE to bend your ear with advice.
DOMESTIC
ECO FRIENDLY CLEANING PRODUCTS
Just Helpers Tried and tested favourite brands: Delphis Ecover, Method, Waitrose Eco-brand
BASIC ITEMS
- 1 Vacuum cleaner (Recommended brands are Miele Hoover or Shark )
- 1 Stringy Mop and Bucket with Wringer (recommend Vileda Supermochio)
- 3-4 Microfibre cloths or old flat cotton tea-towels for polishing glass and chrome (Must be multi-coloured [Pink or Red], [Green or Yellow] and Blue)
- Washing up liquid
- Anti-Bacterial Spray (Method do a great one)
- A packet of scourers (preferably white topped with a sponge at the bottom or crochet some twine into squares. This is one of Antoinette’s favourites!)
- Surface wiping cloths for kitchen (avoid jay cloths as they are not super absorbant)
- All purpose spray for kitchen with de-greaser
- Bathroom cleaning spray
- Toilet cleaner (Ecover do a great one)
- Squeegee – Water scraper for glass/windows
- Floor cleaner
- Glass cleaner
- Limescale remover (Delphis limescale remover is one of the best products that we have tested on the market)
N.B: For fully chemical free cleans:
- Research mixing White vinegar with Bicarbonate of Soda. This is excellent for limescale removal and stubborn grease stains.
- Coca Cola is great at removing limescale in the toilet basin
- Lemons are also great at removing limescale, especially when sprinkled with salt or sugar
NON ECO-FRIENDLY CLEANING PRODUCTS
BASIC ITEMS

SPECIAL ITEMS – These are for additional jobs made on request and would not be part of a normal weekly clean.
- Oven cleaner (Oven Pride Cleaning System)
- Brillo Pads for shining stainless steel pots and pans and certain elements of an oven.
- Mould and mildew spray (HG Mould spray or Bleach with for cleaning low level mouldy grout in the bathroom (bleach based) This is trial and error as there is no definitive product on the market that we have discovered
- The Pink Stuff paste – for rusty surfaces
DEEP CLEAN/END OF TENANCY CLEANING PRODUCTS
- 1-2 Vacuum cleaners in a good working condition (recommended Henry, Miele, Bosch or Shark cylinder machines) It is highly important to have a very good working hoover, preferably not cordless. And if you can access two that would be even better!
- Stringy mop and a bucket with a wringer (recommended Vileda)- it’s highly important the bucket has a wringer
- 10-12 microfiber clothes, 3 glass and polishing clothes – Helpers are advised to bring extra cleaning cloths too-It’s highly important to have not less than 10 microfiber clothes
- Washing up liquid
- A packet of scourers (preferably white topped with a sponge at the bottom)
- All purpose spray for kitchen with a de-greaser (recommended Cillit Bang or Cif)
- Bathroom cleaning spray (recommended Ecover or Cif Cleaning Spray)
- Toilet cleaner (preferable with 100% limescale remover such as Delphis or Harpic Black)
- Squeegee – water scraper for glass/windows
- Floor cleaner,
- Multi surface polish
- Glass cleaner
- Delphis or Viakal limescale remover
- Feather duster (especially for houses based close to a main road in London)
- Black bin bags
- Kitchen roll
- Cif cream – if you have stubborn stains in your bathroom
- Oven Pride cleaning system – for oven clean
